This Fall, NCO presented works showcasing its talented instrumental sections – the orchestra’s voices. Our brass players performed a Dukas Fanfare, two Gabrieli Canzons and an arrangement of Billy Joel’s And So It Goes. NCO’s winds presented selections from Mozart’s Gran Partita, and our strings performed Grieg’s Holberg Suite. The orchestra came together to play Samuel Barber’s sublime Knoxville: Summer of 1915 (Sydney Kucine, soprano) and the U.S. premiere of Joel Toews’ thrilling 2022 work, Mirrors in Haida Gwaii.
